It is very important that your kitty get some food into him every day, or it can further damage his liver. The best chance for recovery in this case, is usually with the veterinarian inserting a temporary feeding tube. You can supplement him with Milk Thistle, but at an advanced stage of liver disease it will only offer some support. He will need on-going care from your veterinarian as well. Herbal supplements generally take 2-3 weeks to take effect in the body, so it is important he is supported by your veterinarian in the mean time. Milk Thistle can provide additional support while his body is fighting the condition.
My 11-yr. old cat has liver disease, is not eating on his own, and very little forced food. Does he have a chance to recover, or has not eating further damaged his liver?
