My 14-yr. old Dalmatian mix dog has hyperthyroidism. He’s responding well with the use of Resthyro gaining back 2/3 of the weight he lost, and kidney function is normal in terms on controlling urination again. What else do you recommend to help support his heart/liver and kidneys as they wear down?

Idiopathic (unknown cause) hyperthyroidism in dogs is extremely rare. Hearty-Heart might help in this case because the heart can be quite stressed with hyperthyroidism. As far as kidney support, the Tripsy is our main kidney supplement, and paired with the Milk Thistle it will help to keep the kidneys functioning as best they can. Aside from those more specific formulations, Turmeric is also beneficial. It is great for the joints, heart, circulation, kidneys, everything! Turmeric would be very beneficially for over-all wellbeing. If you are already feeding a homecooked or a raw diet, please be sure that where you source it from does not include any of the thyroid gland in the mixture. This can cause an elevation of thyroid hormones and cause hyperthyroidism in dogs.
