My 12-year-old cat, Gracie has a huge cat cyst on her head. Vets recommend surgery, but I am not feeling sure about that. I am interested in Turmeric/curcumin as a therapy. Do you have any recommendations?

Cysts on cats can be tricky. Turmeric may be helpful in helping her body fight the inflammation which may be exacerbating the problem, however once a cyst becomes so large, it is hard for the body to deal with. The skin becomes stretched where the fluid builds up and creates an empty space. The body really doesn’t like ‘empty’ spaces and it will fill it with fluids from the body. You can have these types of cysts drained, but the problem of an empty space remains and the fluid returns. If you would like to start the Turmeric, you may want to start it for a few weeks and then have the cyst drained by the vet. This way the Turmeric has some time to start working in the body before the cyst is drained.
